Updates
What has changed
Every Giornata update, with what actually changes for the people using it. Most recent first.
Giornata is available in preview to selected professionals and partners ahead of the public launch: this page collects the updates.
- FixedA voided day no longer shows an estimated pay, on the site and in the phone app: it counts in no total, and the figure said the opposite. On the site its form is read-only until you restore it: before, you could edit it, but “Restore” put it back as it was and the changes were lost without warning.
- FixedOn a phone, the site’s bottom menu could end up below the edge of the screen, especially with the site installed as an app, and on the Calendar a swipe on the header moved the whole page up. The app screen is now exactly as tall as the phone’s and stays still: the menu is always at the bottom, within thumb’s reach.
- ImprovedIn the phone app, the month calendar now has the same shape as the browser’s: a grid with lines instead of separate boxes, the state mark of each day (✓✓ confirmed, ○ draft, ✕ voided) instead of dots, the client’s colour as a bar along the top edge, and a “+2” when the same day holds other jobs. The month’s earnings sit at the top, above the calendar.
- ImprovedThe voided days of a date no longer fill the screen, on the site and in the phone app: they sit in a single row, “3 voided days”, that opens with a tap. Live days stay at the top, and the sentence explaining why a day confirmed in the past cannot be deleted appears only once. Opening the date, the site shows a live day first rather than a voided one.
- ImprovedThe panel of a date is more compact: on the site the day of the week sits above the date and the title no longer wraps on a phone, “Add another day” fits on one line, and the buttons at the bottom no longer cover the form. In the phone app the days of a date no longer repeat the date on every card: each one carries its own name, that is the event, the venue or the client.
- NewCreating an account, on the site and in the app, now goes through a short anti-bot check: usually it asks nothing, and it protects Giornata from automated sign-ups. Signing in to an existing account and signing in with Google do not change.
- Fixed“Download all my data” now carries every kind of data Giornata keeps for you, in its current version. From the site the archive came out with rates, premiums, saved places, work profile, plans and flat-fee agreements empty, and from the phone the flat-fee file was empty: the data was there, the archive just did not pick it up. The site and the phone now build it the same way. Receipts are not in the archive: you download them month by month from the site, under Expenses, with “Download the month’s receipts”.
- FixedIf the charge for your subscription does not go through, Giornata now tells you inside the app too, with a single notice: the day on which, if it is not sorted out, you will no longer be able to log, and that reading and exporting your data always stays possible. In the meantime you keep working as usual. In the browser the notice takes you to update your payment method; in the phone app it reminds you that we emailed you how to sort it out.
- ImprovedIn the phone app, each box of the month calendar now also shows the activity’s mark and the day’s hours, as the browser calendar does; if you chose to see pay in the calendar settings, confirmed days also show the amount.
- FixedIn the phone app, signing in with Google brought you back to the sign-in screen, not signed in and with no explanation: the app did not recognise the answer that brought it back. It now recognises it; and if the sign-in is refused, the app says why instead of staying silent.
- FixedIn the phone app, a recorded day no longer stays «Waiting to sync» after it has arrived: the note disappears as soon as the server has received it. If a day cannot get out, the card now says so — «Not going out yet: it is safe on this device» — and a button to send it again is at the top of the screen.
- FixedIn the phone app, with bold text turned on in Android’s settings, buttons, links and labels are shown in full: the sign-in screen once again shows “Continue with Google”, “No account yet? Create one” and “Forgotten your password?”, activities and day states no longer lose their last letter, and calendar days show both digits.
- FixedIn the phone app, opening a day from the calendar — or with “Record the day” and the “+” — now shows just that day: the form to record it, with the date already filled in, and below it only the days on that date. Before, the form was followed by a list of every day on other dates, and on an empty day it was unclear what to do.
- FixedIn the phone app, under Settings › Permissions, each permission now says why it is the way it is and carries the action that changes it: “Allow” when the phone has not asked yet or will still ask, “Open the system settings” when it will not ask again, and for background location the way to Place memory, with its explanation before the question. Before, there was only “not granted”, even for a permission never asked, and no way to fix it. And when you photograph a day with the camera blocked, the button that opens the settings is now under the message.
- FixedIn the browser, “Go to the rates” — the button under the notice “No rate is in force on this date” — took you to Settings › Subscription instead of your rates. It now closes the day and opens Rates, where you fix what the notice asks for.
- FixedOn the website, when the server refuses a correction, a cancellation or an overridden amount made from a day’s panel, the reason now appears inside the panel, at the top. Before, it ended up underneath the panel, where it could not be read, and the button seemed to have done nothing.
- FixedA voided day that had been confirmed no longer offers “Delete permanently”, on the website and in the phone app: it stays in your pay history, and in place of the button you see why, with “Restore” next to it. On a day that was never confirmed, “Delete permanently” closes every window once confirmed and the day disappears; if the server still refuses, the reason appears at the top of the screen instead of staying hidden behind the panel.
- FixedOn the website, “Confirm” and “Restore” in a day’s panel no longer close the panel a second later: it stays open on the day you just confirmed, with its amount, so you can add another day on the same date from there.
- FixedIn the phone app, confirming a day no longer closes the app by itself: the first on-screen animation made it quit without warning.
- FixedIf you correct a day twice in a row and the server asks a question about the first correction, the question now shows on the day, on the website and on the phone. Before, it stayed hidden, and the second correction looked saved while it waited forever. When you answer, your latest correction goes out: neither of the two is lost.
- FixedOn the phone, answering the holiday premium question on a day already confirmed now carries the rate you had already chosen, as on the website: no second tap is needed. And if a date stops being a holiday, the day can be corrected again instead of staying stuck.
- FixedIn the phone app text is no longer cut off: in the month list the client and event name wraps instead of ending in dots, and in “Your days” a draft shows again what it was — the title had disappeared behind the estimate. Expense dates now read in full instead of as 2026-09-23.
- ImprovedThe “More” pages on the phone all have the same title at the top — Clients, Engagements and Calendar and amounts had none before — and buttons on the same page share the same width and shape. A few buttons too short for a finger, in the walkthrough and in the currency choice, now have the right size.
- FixedWhen you correct a day and the server asks you something, reopening it — on the website or with “Correct” on the phone — now shows your correction, not the day as it was before. And on the website the answer — the rate chosen with “Save the correction”, the holiday premium, “Override the amount” — goes out with your correction in it, as it already did on the phone.
- FixedA day already confirmed on a public holiday can now be corrected, on the website and on the phone: the holiday premium decision you had already made travels with the correction, and if you want to change it the holiday buttons correct the day instead of stopping.
- NewFor those who bought their subscription on the website, Settings › Subscription now has “Update payment method”: it opens the payment system’s secure page and then brings you back to Giornata.
- NewA day with an agreed fee can now be confirmed even when you have no rate yet: under “No rate is in force” there is now “Override the amount” — write what the day is worth and why, and it is confirmed with that amount. If more than one rate could apply instead, you are still asked which one.
- FixedIf you change the same day or the same expense on two devices and the two versions differ, the app no longer silently drops one: it tells you it was “also changed on another device”, shows you both versions side by side and lets you choose which to keep.
- FixedOn the phone, when you correct a day and the server asks you something — which rate to apply, the holiday premium, or “No rate is in force” — the question now appears on the day instead of staying hidden. And when you answer, including with “Override the amount”, your correction goes out with the answer in it, not the day as it was before.
- FixedIf your subscription renewal fails, the notices now really arrive: at most three for that missed payment — right away, halfway through the wait and the day before writing would stop — instead of one for every declined attempt. They say you keep working in the meantime, that your data always stays readable and exportable, and they never ask for your card details. And every paid renewal now sends you its receipt, not only the first purchase, which gets just one.
- FixedAsking for a new password from the Android app now sends a link to the right page, where the password is reset. Before, the link could lead to an address that could not do it.
- ImprovedWhere a subscription does not include documents, the sentence that explains it is now followed by “See your subscription”, which takes you straight to the subscription page instead of leaving you to look for it.
- ImprovedWhen a day falls on a public holiday, the question about the premium now says what each answer is worth: the total with the proposed premium and the total at normal pay. Neither is preselected — you decide.
- ImprovedOn the Android app, when a day can be paid with more than one rate, the choices now come with the question — “Which rate should this day be paid with?” — and the reason below: before, the rates appeared as buttons among the others. And the month name at the top of the calendar no longer breaks mid-word.
- ImprovedWhen you void or delete a day, the confirmation says which one: client, activity, event and place, so on a date with two jobs you cannot pick the wrong one. On the Android app, content fades under the bottom bar instead of ending on a line cut in half.
- FixedOn the Android app the hints inside the fields — “Event”, “Place”, “Notes” — are now readable, and days covered by a lump-sum fee show their name again: the fee sentence wraps underneath instead of running off the card.
- ImprovedOn the Android app dates are no longer typed by hand: the day of a job, an expense or a rate is picked from the phone’s calendar, and reads in full — “Friday 14 August 2026” instead of “2026-08-14”.
- ImprovedOn the Android app the content now starts right under the header: an empty status line left a strip of dead space at the top of every screen.
- FixedOn the Android app your rates are back: “Today” no longer says “No rate yet” when you have set them, and choosing a day’s rate shows their names instead of empty boxes. The app read a rate’s name from the wrong place; it now reads it the way the website does.
- FixedThe Android app now really saves: a day, a client, an expense. Pressing “Save” did nothing — neither on the phone nor on the server — because every write asked the phone for a function Android does not have. Every writing gesture now goes through a native generator, and a test runs the app under the phone’s own conditions on every check.
- ImprovedThe app’s calendar now reads at a glance: every cell carries a wash of colour saying how that day stands — confirmed, still to complete, voided, busy, unavailable — instead of asking you to read a small mark. It is the same reading the web calendar has had for a few days, and where a day holds more than one job the one that needs attention wins.
- FixedIf the app cannot open, it now says so and offers “Try again”. Before it sat on a spinner, with no word and no gesture: the only way out was to close it from the recent apps.
- FixedThe app’s sign-in screen now scrolls. With the system font enlarged, or on a short screen, the bottom — the Google button, the forgotten-password link — was cut off with no sign that there was more.
- FixedIf your session ends on its own, the app and the site now say why instead of dropping you back at the sign-in screen without a word. There are three reasons and they have different remedies — it expired, we could not renew it, the service closed it — and in all three what you had recorded stays where it is.
- NewThe app now has a jobs screen. Before, you could only create one on the fly while recording a day, and then it vanished: there was nowhere to see them, rename them, close them or reopen them. It now sits under “More”, below clients, and each job shows the client it belongs to. Renaming one leaves the lump-sum fee and the dates untouched.
- FixedOn a narrow screen — a small phone, or a normal one with the display size enlarged — the month calendar pushed the seventh day of the week onto its own line. The seven columns now stay seven on any screen.
- NewThe holiday premium can now be set from the app too, at the bottom of the rates: how much more a holiday is worth and which rate it is worked out on. Before, this was only possible on a computer — so a day recorded on the phone on a holiday only got the premium if someone had configured it elsewhere. It can also be edited and withdrawn, and days already confirmed stay paid as they were.
- NewThe app now says it under “More” as well, not just in the welcome cards: the same account opens at getgiornata.com in a browser. The cards are seen once, at the very start, when there is nothing yet to move onto a real keyboard — anyone realising it months later now finds it where they go looking.
- NewThe app now shows how many automatic receipt readings have already been used this month and how many documents are kept. Those two numbers were previously visible only on a computer — and the phone is exactly where the photos are taken, so the limit only announced itself as a refusal. You will find them under “More”, below the subscription.
- NewYou can now change a client’s name from the app: just tap it in the list. Before, this was only possible on a computer, so a typo made while out meant waiting until you were back at your desk. The contact details and the colour stay as they were.
- FixedIn the app, activity types set up on the computer never appeared: “Activity types” said “There are none” even for people who had already configured them, and the same went for expense categories. The app simply never asked the server for them. It now reads them on every open, just as the website does.
- FixedOn the app’s sign-in screen, the line above the Google button read “or with email and password” — announcing the form above it rather than the button below it. It now simply reads “or”.
- FixedOn first open, “Record the day” ended up below the edge of the screen: two setup notes sat above it, so you had to scroll to reach the button. Now only what actually stops you stays on top — the rate, without which a day cannot be confirmed — while the note about clients has moved below the button. Neither message was shortened or hidden.
- NewThe app now says that Giornata is on your computer too. The same account opens in a browser at getgiornata.com with nothing to install: the phone to jot things down, the computer for rates and the end-of-month report. You will find it in the welcome tour and among the items under “More”.
- NewA page now explains how to delete your account: the steps from the app and from the browser, what goes, what stays and for how long. You will find it at the bottom of every page, under “Delete account”, and it reads without signing in.
- FixedOn the privacy and terms pages the highlighted words showed two asterisks instead of bold text. It was a hundred and thirty-two sentences, on the pages that say what we do with your data: they now read the way they should.
- NewA saved place can now be taken out of the list without deleting it. There used to be two roads: switch it off, and it stayed in the list for ever, or delete it, and it vanished along with the name you gave it. Now there is the middle one — it leaves the list, the name stays safe, and you put it back whenever you want from “Archived places”.
- FixedWhen your subscription does not include document storage, the app now says so. The button to attach a photo used to simply disappear — on the day, on expenses and on the phone — with no word explaining why. And in the first seconds after opening, when the app does not yet know what you can attach, it says that instead of making the feature look missing.
- FixedThe weekly reminder no longer goes silent for good. If you skipped two in a row it stopped arriving and never came back — with the switch still on in Settings, so there was no way to notice. Now recording a day is enough to start it again.
- FixedPausing Place memory is now really a pause: the button says “Resume” and one tap starts it again. Before, after “Pause”, the whole first-time explanation came back and the button said “Turn on Place memory” — it looked like starting over.
- FixedIn the calendar, the switches that decide what a cell says now count on the phone grid too. The big name in a cell used to always be the event — or the venue — and no switch touched it: turning “Client” and “Job” off changed nothing. Now “Event” has its own, and turning it off makes the name the client, then the job. Turn all three off and the cell stays without a name.
- ImprovedA suggestion that comes from a stay now says HOW LONG: “the phone stayed there for at least 5 hours” instead of “for several hours”. A three-hour stay and a twelve-hour one used to read the same, and that difference is exactly what you need in order to decide. The number is always rounded down — “at least” never promises more than the phone measured — and it is still the phone that was there, not you: you say that by accepting.
- ImprovedWhen your plan and your phone disagree about where you were, Giornata now says WHICH two places — “you had Roma planned, the phone says Milano” — instead of only saying they differ. It chooses nothing and corrects nothing: it puts the two readings side by side and you decide. And if the phone does not know what that place is called, it says so rather than inventing a name. A day you have already recorded is never touched by GPS.
- NewThe withdrawn block can be emptied. One button removes for good everything nobody uses any more — and it says how many before doing it, because it is almost never all of them: a client, an engagement, a rate or a premium named by a day, an expense, a plan or a report already issued cannot be deleted, and stays where it is with the reason next to it. It works on clients, engagements, rates and premiums, on the computer and on the phone. Activity types have no such button: that catalogue is created by Giornata and the app only reads it.
- ImprovedThe withdrawn block no longer grows without end. It shows the first five, says how many there are in total, and one tap opens them all; above five a field appears to search by name — no accents and no capitals to get right, and it finds a word in the middle of a name too. It works on clients, engagements, activity types, rates and premiums, on the computer and on the phone. Nothing is deleted: what was withdrawn stays withdrawn, and “Reinstate” is where it has always been.
- FixedThe heading of the withdrawn block used the wrong Italian ending on three of the five blocks, and three of them showed an Italian word even in English. Both are fixed: the ending now follows the word, and every heading is translated.
- NewClients can now be managed from the phone as well, under “More”: there is the list of the active ones and of the withdrawn ones, and from there you can withdraw one, put it back among the choices, or delete it for good if no day, expense or other row names it. It is the same rule as on the browser, not a reduced version: where something does cite it, the product tells you so with the number instead of hiding the gesture. It is for anyone who creates a client by mistake while recording, who until yesterday had to open the computer to remove it.
- NewGiornata now opens without a network too. Before, in a basement or a dressing room with no signal, reopening the app showed the browser’s error page: now it shows Giornata, with what you already have on the device. When the network comes back, what you wrote goes out on its own. No document and no receipt is kept aside for this: they stay exactly where they have always been.
- NewOn the phone too, when there are a lot of clients (or engagements, or activities), a field appears above the chips to filter them: type two letters and only the matching ones stay, with no accents and no capitals to get right. Anyone with only a few sees no extra field. Filtering does not change what you picked, and “All” always stays there to go back.
- FixedThe “requests stuck on a refusal” notice could stay lit even when there was nothing left to sort out: if the server had meanwhile sent you its version of that row, the screen was already in step and the notice kept counting it. Pressing “Re-sync with the server” released none of them and said everything was fine anyway. Those requests now go away by themselves at the first sync, without you pressing anything — and when something really is still on screen, the notice stays, because it is needed.
- NewEvery client and every engagement now says when it entered Giornata, and when it was last changed: in the form that edits it, and under the withdrawn ones. It helps when you find a name you do not remember writing.
- FixedFor a moment, when you opened the app, the top bar could show the date the site was last updated instead of today. The date now appears once your own device has said it — which is the only one that really knows, if you work in another time zone.
- NewWithdrawing is no longer a one-way gesture for any of your base data. An engagement closed by mistake, a withdrawn chip, an archived rate and the holiday premium all come back among the choices with one tap: at the bottom of their screen there is a withdrawn block, with “Reinstate” next to each. Days already recorded move neither way.
- FixedA “requests stuck on a refusal” notice could stay on screen forever when it concerned a client, an engagement, a rate or a plan: the app knew how to put them back the way the server has them, but only did so if you asked. It now does it by itself, at the first sync, and the notice goes away without you pressing anything — and without discarding anything that has not been sent yet.
- FixedOn the phone, planning several work days over dates you had marked as unavailable happened without saying anything, and days already confirmed were not skipped. The phone now behaves like the browser: dates that do not need you are left alone, those written over an “I am away” are written all the same — the work is the new fact — and you are told how many there are, so you know which cells to open.
- ImprovedWhen something is stuck on a refusal from the server, Settings no longer tells you only how many requests are stuck: it now lists them — what each one touches, which day, and why the server did not accept it — above the button that discards them. And where a screen can open it, one tap takes you there.
- ImprovedWhen you have many clients, a search field now appears above the monthly report’s “which clients” boxes: type two letters and only the matching ones remain — no accents and no capitals to get right. If you have only a few, no extra field appears. Searching never changes your ticks: what you had chosen stays chosen even while it is hidden.
- NewA withdrawn client can be put back among the choices. The «Reinstate» button sits in the withdrawn block at the bottom of the Clients screen: withdrawing is no longer a one-way gesture, and past days move neither way.
- FixedSaving a correction, or voiding a day, no longer throws you back to the calendar: the window stays open on that day, where the next things you might do are.
- ImprovedWhen something cannot be done — amending a voided day, confirming one that is already confirmed, touching a voided expense — the app now says so right away, as you press, while you can still change your mind. Before, you found out much later, on the next connection, on a screen where you were doing something else.
- FixedA notice about something the server can never accept now clears itself on the next connection, with nothing for you to press. It stays only when there is a real choice to make.
- ImprovedOn a phone, a day’s window now opens in the middle of the screen instead of clinging to the bottom edge with half a screen empty above it.
- ImprovedThe day window now stands apart from what it covers: the background blurs and the border reads. The buttons share one width, and when a date has a single plan they no longer repeat its reason three times over.
- ImprovedThe «Needs attention» notice now says WHAT it is about — «a change to a plan», «a new day», «confirming an expense» — instead of a generic «this change». And when we cannot explain the refusal, the technical reason is one tap away, for whoever has to fix it.
- FixedThe «Needs attention» notice always has a way out. Before, when it was about a plan or a record, it stayed at the top of the app with no button at all: now it leads to the list of what the server did not accept, and pressing it deletes nothing.
- NewFrom the phone too you can now EDIT an unavailability instead of cancelling and redoing it: the gesture sits in the day window, next to the one that removes it.
- FixedWhen you edit an unavailability and press Save, the day window now closes and you are back on the calendar. Before it stayed open on the very screen you started from, and it looked as though the tap had been lost.
- ImprovedReopening a date you had already marked «Not available», the window no longer asks for Client, Engagement and rate for a day that does not exist. It shows your unavailability, and now you can also EDIT it — before it could only be cancelled. If you did work that day after all, a button still opens the day form.
- NewIf you plan work on days you had marked «Not available», the app now tells you — and plans them anyway, because the work is the new fact. The affected cells appear marked in red in the calendar, with an exclamation mark: opening one lets you remove whichever plan no longer holds, in a single tap.
- NewAnd if you record a day from «Today» on a date you had marked «Not available», the app reminds you before you fill anything in, with the gesture to remove that plan right next to it. It blocks nothing: if you worked, you worked.
- ImprovedSmart reconstruction no longer proposes work on days you had marked «Not available». And when the phone says otherwise — because you spent hours somewhere you really do work — the proposal becomes a question carrying both readings, instead of choosing for you.
- FixedIn the month calendar on the phone too, marking a day «Not available» no longer asks who for. The button has moved above Client, Engagement and Activity: before it sat at the bottom, so saying «I am not there» meant reading past three fields that had nothing to do with it. It was the last screen where that still happened.
- FixedClosing a day panel while it is saving now actually closes it. Before, if you pressed the «✕» — or Esc, or outside the panel — in the moment between «Save» and the answer, the panel reopened by itself a moment later, on the same day. The save went through either way: it was the closing that did not work.
- ImprovedA notice carrying a refusal now says WHAT it is about: «Day of 12 September», or «Expense of 12 September», above the reason. Before it said only the reason, and in a month with twenty days that was not enough to tell which one needed fixing — the more so because a refusal that arrived while the app was syncing on its own may concern something you did not just touch.
- ImprovedA client created by mistake can now be deleted. «Withdraw» used to be the only gesture — right for a client with days behind it, because those days must go on saying who you worked for — and for one created in error it was a one-way door: the name stayed at the bottom of the screen for ever. Now, if nothing uses it, it really is deleted; and where something uses it, you are told, with the number of things that name it, instead of being left to press a button that cannot work.
- FixedMarking a day «Not available» no longer asks you for the client, the engagement and the event — from «Today», from the day panel in the browser, and from the browser’s planner. A personal commitment has nothing to do with a job, and the capture form used to sit under the question as if it were part of it. In its place is the field that actually matters: WHY you are away that day — an appointment, another job, something else on. And that reason is now saved when you write it from the month calendar too: before, the field was there and the note was thrown away precisely on an unavailability.
- ImprovedIn the report, a lump-sum fee says again how many days it covers. If you had corrected the engagement’s maturity date — even by a single day — the row read «0 days covered» next to the very days the list above marked as «lump sum»: the document contradicted itself. The days were right; it was the link that broke whenever the date changed. And when a covered day carries a maturity date that no agreement carries any more, and the month has more than one lump sum of that engagement, the document now says so in a note.
- FixedThe place printed on the receipt appears in the form again when you photograph one. The model was reading it and the server was returning it: it was lost in between, and nothing else was. Now all six fields arrive — amount, currency, date, merchant, place and category — and that step can no longer drop one.
- FixedIn the browser, on a date with more than one job, the question before cancelling now names the right one — and when you record a new day the panel stays on it, even if you changed the date in the form. Before, it could go back to the empty form and look as if nothing had happened.
- FixedFrom «Today», confirming a day on which more than one rate applies now opens the day and asks which one, instead of sending a confirmation the server refuses. The question already existed in the detail view: now it holds for every way of confirming.
- FixedWhen the server refuses something you have just done, it now tells you — always, and where you pressed. The reason existed before and never arrived: on «Delete permanently» for a day that had once been confirmed, the button looked like it did nothing, while the server was explaining that the day is part of your earnings history and stays. This holds for every gesture, not just that one.
- FixedOn the phone too, cancelling a day that is already confirmed now asks and says what stops counting. On a draft it does not: a question that always arrives stops being read.
- FixedIf you register with an address that already has an account, the message now tells you to go in from sign-in — in all four languages of the site. Before it said so only in Italian, and anyone reading in English, French or Spanish waited for an email that would not arrive.
- FixedThe app speaks English all the way through. Field names and button labels — «Date», «Amount», «Save», «Close» — stayed in Italian even when you chose another language: a hundred and sixty words were written inside the screens instead of the place where every sentence exists in two languages. They are all there now, in the browser and on the phone.
- ImprovedThe row of chips that asks «what kind of day» no longer takes half the screen: it stops at two rows and the rest sit behind one tap, with the count written on it. The choice you already made always stays in sight, and nothing has become unreachable.
- ImprovedIn the grid calendar every box now says WHAT that day was: the name of the event, or failing that the venue or the client. Before there were the client and the engagement, and the event never appeared at any width. On a phone, where a box is a finger wide, the name shortens to its first word — «Teatro» instead of «Teatro Comunale» — instead of disappearing.
- ImprovedAnd the month reads at a glance: confirmed days, days still to complete, cancelled ones, days taken by a planned date and days you marked yourself unavailable now have five different backgrounds. The two planned ones differ by a hatching rather than a colour, so the difference stays visible to anyone who does not tell colours apart.
- ImprovedIn the export filter a withdrawn client now also says why it is still there: «(withdrawn · 1 day and 2 expenses this month)». Before it only said it was withdrawn, and working out where it came from meant hunting — often among the days, while the reason could be an expense.
- NewIn the app, under More › Giornata, there is now a list of permissions — camera, location, location in the background — with what the phone reports as granted and a button that opens the system settings. Before, the link existed only at the moment you denied a permission: if you changed your mind later, there was no way back.
- FixedA withdrawn client can be found again. In the export filter its name now carries «(withdrawn)» — it appears there because it has a day or an expense in that month, not because it is back among the choices — and the clients screen has a block at the bottom listing them and explaining that they stay on every day that names them.
- FixedWhen you close an engagement, its planned dates leave the list of what is still expected. Before they stayed there, as if the work were still coming — but on a closed engagement you can no longer record a day. The dates stay written in the history: reopen the engagement and they come back.
- FixedMarking a day «Not available» now works on today and on past days too. Before, that choice only appeared on future dates, so saying «I was not there» left you only with recording a day — which asks for a rate, because a day is work.
- ImprovedThe app speaks English all the way through, on the phone and in the browser. Choosing the language was already there, but several screens stayed in Italian anyway — Settings, Rates, even the page names. Now every phrase follows the language you picked.
- ImprovedFrom the browser it is now clear what the phone adds. The first-run walkthrough says so with one extra card — on the browser only — and Settings keep it written at the top: this is where you set things up and get the report, while the features that suggest where you have been live in the phone app, with location permissions on.
- ImprovedThe default activity type «Spettacolo» is now «Evento» — it also covers fairs, conferences and installations, which are not shows. If you had already renamed it yourself, it stays as you named it.
- FixedA date you have already recorded no longer stays listed among the planned ones. Before, the calendar showed the confirmed day and just below the same date still appeared as «planned», with a gesture to cancel a plan that had already come true.
- ImprovedClosing an engagement is one gesture. There used to be two buttons, «Close» and «Archive», doing exactly the same thing under two names. And the question now also says when it is worth doing: once you have invoiced it, or once you are sure no further dates will be added — because a closed engagement can no longer be picked when you record a day.
- FixedWhen the server refuses an archive, the row comes back. Before, if you archived a premium, a client, an engagement, an activity type or a rate and the server did not accept it — because your trial had ended, for instance — the row disappeared from the screen anyway, while the server still treated it as live and kept applying it to your pay. Now it returns exactly as it was.
- NewYou choose the app’s language. Before, the phone decided and that was that: now it asks you when you first open it, and you can change it whenever you like from More › App. Your choice always beats the device’s, and it applies on that device — the website and the emails stay in the language you pick there.
- FixedA day on a lump-sum engagement no longer says «0». The number was right — that pay matures all at once on the date you set, not day by day — but at a glance on the calendar it looked as if the day was worth nothing. Now there is a dash in its place, and opening the day tells you the pay is lump-sum and when it matures. No amount has changed.
- ImprovedThe month calendar now has rows of equal height. Before, only the weeks that contained something grew, and a grid with uneven rows reads as wrong before you have read a single number. No cell got smaller: the empty ones lined up with the full ones. And on «Today», on a phone, «YOUR DAY» now sits at the same height as the date, and the line between them is visible.
- NewThe app speaks English. If your phone or browser is set to English, Giornata opens in English: signing in, the calendar, expenses, the server’s refusals, and the words that change with your profile — day, client, engagement, pay. All of it, not a part: including the words that change with your profile — day, client, engagement, pay — the month names, the calendar colours, and the legal pages, which open in your language. If your device is set to Italian, nothing changes for you.
- FixedA flat fee now counts towards the month’s total. If an engagement is paid as a flat fee that falls due on a given date, that figure appeared in the report you export but not in the total at the top of the month: the month showed less than you had earned, and the difference was the whole engagement. The two figures now agree. The day count is unchanged — a flat fee adds no worked day — and currencies stay separate as always.
- FixedA feature you gain while the app is open now switches on straight away. If your plan changed with the app already open — a subscription just activated, a permission granted by support — the new feature stayed off until you reloaded the page, with the sentence explaining why you could not use it still beside it. The app now notices on its own at the next check, with nothing for you to do. The same goes for storage: free some space and the «you have run out» message stops immediately.
- FixedConfirming a day no longer fails when more than one rate could apply to it. On the phone, pressing “Confirm” on today’s card could show “this change was not recorded”: the app sent the confirmation without first asking which rate to apply, and the server refused it — rightly, because it cannot choose for you. The question now comes first, with the possible rates listed and the one you used last time marked.
- FixedAll four languages of the site now say the same thing about where Place memory data lives: the history of the places you stop at remains on your phone, and only the places you choose to save follow your account. In English, French and Spanish the home page used to explain it badly; the Italian version next to it was already correct. The sentence that was missing came back too: Giornata remembers for you, it does not record for you — a suggestion becomes a day only when you confirm it.
- ImprovedOn «Today», on a phone, the text has room. The date sat in a column as tall as the whole header while only ever needing one line: it took a third of the width from the sentence that explains the carried-over day — which ran to five lines instead of three — and left a gap above itself. It now moves up beside the title and the sentence uses the full page, so everything below starts higher. On a large screen nothing changes.
- ImprovedThe month is visible on a phone. The calendar showed one week out of five before you had to scroll: cells were as tall as three lines of text to hold a single number, the month bar wrapped onto three rows, and the earnings summary took a whole box. You now see three weeks in a row and the page is a third shorter, without shrinking anything you have to press: the cells stay wide enough for a thumb. And «Today» now sits next to the month arrows, where it belongs, instead of next to the grid/list switch.
- FixedThe calendar no longer hides anything and no longer tells you false things about a day. If a day had two jobs and you recorded one, the second — planned for a different client — disappeared from view: recording the morning load-in does not mean you also did the evening show. From the list, the job you tapped is the one that opens, not the first of the day. A cell with several jobs shows the state of the one you still need to finish, instead of looking settled because the first was confirmed, and it no longer shows an amount that is not the day’s total. And in the panel, jobs are recognisable by client, activity and engagement rather than by «1st» and «2nd».
- FixedA warning about a problem that is no longer there now clears itself. You could read «something went wrong» while the app was syncing perfectly well: the warning was twenty minutes old and nothing removed it. A successful sync round now clears it, and the sentence says what is actually happening — «syncing your data» — instead of alarming you. On the phone a problem no longer covers the whole app: it is one line at the top, and you keep working underneath it.
- FixedA site address typed without the language now works. `getgiornata.com/prezzi` answered «404», and pages only opened in the form with the language in front — `/it/prezzi` — which is not how anyone types an address or sends one to somebody else. Every page now opens that way too, in your browser’s language, and it works for addresses in all four languages: `precios` reaches the pricing page even if your browser is set to Italian.
- FixedThe email confirmation link now goes where it should. People who signed up received an email whose button went nowhere, leaving the sign-up half done; it now lands on a page that says the address is confirmed — and if the link has expired or has already been used, it says so instead of pretending otherwise. In all four languages of the site.
- NewThe monthly report can now be produced from your phone too. It is at the bottom of the month screen: PDF for everyone, spreadsheet on the Pro plan. It is the same document as on the site — same days, same totals — because the same code builds it; the phone lays it out and hands it to the system share sheet, so you can email it or send it on WhatsApp without going near a computer. Nothing leaves Giornata: the document is made on your device and goes where you send it.
- NewYou can now see what a day is worth BEFORE confirming it. The figure is worked out on your device from your own rates, offline too, and it moves as you fill the form — pick a client or a rate and it updates. It is an estimate: it does not include the holiday premium, which you are asked about at confirmation, and confirmation is what decides the real pay. When no rate covers that day, when two are tied, or when a rate of yours depends on something only confirmation knows, Giornata would rather show no figure at all and tell you why.
- NewThe holiday premium can now be withdrawn, from the rates page. Before, it could only be replaced by another one — that is, by declaring a percentage that still applies — and anyone who stopped earning it had no way to say so. Giornata will still ask about it on future holidays, and the only answer left is no; days already confirmed stay paid exactly as they were.
- NewYou can now download ALL your data at once, from the phone and from the site: an archive with your days, expenses, clients, engagements, rates and places — everything Giornata keeps for you. They are files any spreadsheet program opens, with nothing to install. It costs nothing and needs no plan: it is yours, and you can take it whenever you like. There is no trail of your movements inside — the places are the ones you saved yourself.
- NewOn the phone, answering “Not that day” three times to proposals from the same place makes Giornata stop suggesting it, and say so once. It is not another question — it is having understood. It stays different from “I never work here”, which is forever and follows your account onto every phone: this one is about that place, lives only on your phone, and you can clear it from Settings whenever you like. And a single “Not that day” still teaches nothing about the place: go back next week and it asks again.
- NewOn the calendar, tapping a date that has not arrived yet now offers to PLAN it: on hold, confirmed, or unavailable. It is the right verb for the future — a day is recorded once it has been worked — and the panel is the one you know, with a line and three choices at the top. The tap asks before saving, so nothing gets marked by accident; from there you can also set an “until” date and cover a whole period at once; and a plan is removed from the same panel where you put it. Recording the day is still possible and cancels nothing.
- FixedAlso on the phone: if you took Giornata’s location permission away from your settings, the place-memory switch stayed on “active” while it had stopped recording anything. It now tells the truth, and turning it back on takes you where you need to go.
- FixedIf you had turned on place memory on the phone, signing out left the app still noting where you had been: the service lives in the operating system and stayed on. Signing out now always stops it — including when the server ends the session, and after you delete your account. When you come back you turn it on again with one tap: it never restarts by itself, because starting a location recording is something you do, not something that happens to you.
- ImprovedWhen the app suggests a day that looks worked, it now tells you WHERE: the name of the town or city you were in. And since lunch, dinner and the hotel are all near the workplace, stops on the same day in the same town become one suggestion instead of three. If you saved “home” as a place where you do not work, the app stops suggesting days across your whole town, not just inside the house. The names live inside the app: no location is sent to anyone to get them, and it works with no signal.
- NewYou can now note why a day is unavailable. In planning, below the dates, there is a “Why” field: holiday, another job, a commitment. It works for optional and confirmed dates too, so when you come back to the month you know what you had in mind.
- NewOn the phone you can turn on a weekly reminder. It arrives at most once a week, and only if there are days that look worked and are not recorded: if there is nothing to do it does not arrive, however much time passes. It never says where you were or for whom — only that there is something to look at — and if you ignore it twice it stops, until you record something.
- FixedWhen you delete your account, the data left on the device you are using now goes too: the days, the expenses, the receipts still waiting to be sent and — on the phone — the places and movements that place memory had noted, which were never anywhere else. Before, they stayed there, inside a store no screen could open again. If something cannot be removed we tell you, instead of letting you believe otherwise.
- ImprovedOn the phone the month calendar now runs to the edges of the screen, so every day is wide enough to hit first time. The seven columns used to sit inside a card’s margins, and on a narrow phone each day was smaller than a fingertip — you tapped the wrong one. On tablets the card stays, because there is room to spare.
- FixedOn Android, place memory starts again by itself as soon as you switch the phone back on, without you having to open the app: before, the system forgot the service at reboot and Giornata quietly stopped noting where you had been. It only starts again if you had turned it on and only if the permissions are still there, and it never asks you anything at start-up. On iPhone this is not true yet: after a reboot you have to open the app once.
- FixedThe calendar moves to the new month by itself at midnight, even if the app was left open. Before, it stayed on the previous month while “Today” already showed the new date: recording a day on the night of the first saved it with the right date and made it vanish from the calendar, which was still looking at the month that had ended. If you were browsing another month you stay there: it only moves for whoever was on the current month.
- NewOn the phone you can now sign in with Google too, just like on the website. Before, the app only asked for an email and a password.
- NewRates can now be created and corrected from the phone too. Before, you could only pick one: opening the app for the first time in the field showed “a rate is missing” with no way to add one there. Now there is one, with the same fields as the website — and retiring a rate still leaves the days it has already paid untouched.
- ImprovedOn the phone, when you save a place, you can have the phone itself suggest the name: it reads where you are and Giornata fills in the venue or the street. The name stays yours — change it or clear it before saving — and the screen says, before you tap, that getting it asks the system’s map service about your coordinates.
- ImprovedPaying yearly costs less: Base goes from €43 to €42 a year and Pro from €64 to €63. It is not a promotion — it is the rule that derives them, changed because a yearly plan is read monthly: they now work out to a round €3.50 and €5.25 a month instead of €3.58 and €5.33. The discount rises to 12%.
- Improved“I’m here” now tells you what it read. When the point is not among your saved places you see the coordinates and the accuracy your device reported, so you know the reading worked instead of being left guessing.
- ImprovedThe pricing page still listed “whether trying Giornata requires a card” among the undecided things. It was decided long ago and the answer is no: the trial starts without entering any payment method, and the page now says so — along with what happens when the trial ends (everything you recorded stays readable and exportable; recording new days needs a subscription).
- ImprovedOn the phone the menu button now turns into an × while the menu is open, so it is clear the same tap closes it.
- ImprovedIf you are an employee, the app now speaks your language: where a freelancer reads Client, Engagement and Compensation, you read Production, Contract and Allowance — on every screen and in the report you hand over. You change it in Settings, and it touches none of the days you have already recorded.
- FixedMessages from Giornata — a notice, an answer to something you reported — only reached people who opened the app on a computer. They now reach the phone too.
- NewGiornata now knows your name. It asks when you create your account — optional, and you can change it whenever you like in Settings — and writes it at the top of your reports: “Monthly report for Mario Rossi”, so whoever receives one knows whose it is without deducing it from the file name.
- ImprovedSign-ups are opening in waves. Anyone arriving on the site leaves a name and an address and is told when their turn comes; anyone already invited gets in through the link they were sent. This is a phase, not a permanent choice: when the app is ready, sign-up opens to everyone again.
- FixedCorrecting a day you had already confirmed could be refused: the app kept sending back the chosen rate even when there was nothing left to choose. It now sends it only when the question is genuinely open.
- FixedIn the calendar, the lines between one day and the next were nearly invisible on a phone’s dark screen, and the month read as one solid block. They are visible now.
- NewOn the phone you can now write a work day’s **city** and **notes**, and an expense’s notes: they were fields that existed only on the computer, so a note written there was invisible on the phone. Both surfaces now show the same things.
- FixedArchiving a Client or a Job made it vanish from the days that named it: opening a day from March, the field read “none” while the data was there, and correcting that day risked changing it by accident. A retired entry now stays visible where it is already chosen, and is not offered where it is not needed. The same held for the report — filtering by client silently dropped the days of anyone archived after working them — and for the job list, where a live job under an archived client no longer showed the client’s name.
- FixedOn the phone, in a freshly installed app, the Client field was missing from “Today” and from expenses: with none yet, the field disappeared — and with it the place to notice it was missing. It is now always there, on every screen, and you create the client or the engagement from it without leaving what you were doing.
- FixedAfter picking a client, some screens still offered you every engagement — other clients’ included. Now, everywhere, they offer that client’s (and all of them until you pick one). The one already assigned stays visible, even if you have archived it.
- FixedOn the phone, a photo taken where there is no signal looked like it had never existed: the expense showed only the receipts that had already arrived. That expense now says “one receipt is on this device and is waiting to be uploaded”, and a work day says the same about its photos. “It is not there” and “it has not arrived yet” have opposite remedies — take the photo again, or wait.
- FixedIf your session expired while you were finishing creating your account, the app told you to check your connection: you went to look at the wifi and retried forever, with an account already created and no workspace. It now says what actually happened — your session expired — and takes you back to signing in. When it really is the network, the old message stays.
- NewIf someone asks to delete your account, you now get an email while the deletion is under way. It is the only way you would find out: the request comes from inside the account, and only whoever made it sees the confirmation on screen.
- NewIf the app has an idea of where you spent your day, it now says so on **Today**: “Looks like you worked at…”, with the reason underneath and the fields already filled in. Save it with one tap, or fix what is wrong — nothing is recorded until you save.
- NewA job can now have a **validity**: always open, open from a date, or from one date to another. When the end has passed, Giornata says so next to the job and offers to archive it — one tap, if you want. Nothing disappears on its own: the job stays selectable and past days are recorded as always.
- FixedIf you had refused the location permission, the app only said it was missing. It now tells the two cases apart: if your phone will ask again it says to try again, and if it will not, one tap takes you to Giornata’s page in your settings. And when it is the phone’s location that is off, or the reading merely imprecise, it no longer sends you to the app settings, where there was nothing to do.
- NewSettings now has **Saved places**: home, the warehouses, the offices where you work. You can rename them, say what a stay there means, widen the radius, switch one off or remove it — and they stay on this device, as they always have.
- NewSettings now has **Statistics**: how many days you worked month by month, how many are still to confirm and how much you earned, by year. It reads what the app already holds, so the page opens instantly and adds no waiting.
- NewExpenses now has **Download this month’s receipts**: an archive with every photo from the month you picked, plus an index sheet with date, merchant and amount. It is built on your device and you share it however you like — and if one fails to download, the app says so instead of handing you an incomplete archive.
- Fixed“I’m here” gave up too soon: if the satellite did not lock within ten seconds — which is what happens indoors or with a cold GPS — the app said it got no answer. Now, if the satellite stays silent, it asks the network instead, which answers in a couple of seconds.
- FixedYou now write the name of a new place yourself. The app used to offer to remember the spot under whatever was in the Place field — which could be a name it had suggested, meaning a different town. A place saved under the wrong name would have repeated the mistake every time.
- FixedYou were being signed out even on your own, and that no longer happens: a network blip or an odd answer from the sign-in service was enough to end the session mid-work. Now the session ends only when it really has ended, or when you sign out on purpose.
- FixedYou were being signed out too often with several tabs open: two tabs could refresh the session at the same instant and the identity provider revoked everything. Now only one refreshes at a time.
- ImprovedSaving an expense that has an amount now CONFIRMS it: no second gesture. A receipt photographed and not yet read still needs confirming, because without an amount it cannot enter a total.
- ImprovedA tab left open while Giornata was updated now says so, with a button to reload. It used to keep working on the old version, silently.
- ImprovedThe app answers faster: the server that runs it now sits next to the database, in Germany. Every request used to cross the Atlantic twice.
- Fixed“Edit” on an expense now brings the form into view: on a phone it opened at the top of the list and you had to scroll back up to find it.
- FixedQuiet buttons — “Attach a photo”, “Save correction”, the actions on an expense row — are now visible without hovering. They only appeared under the pointer, which on a phone never happens.
- ImprovedExporting the month for a SINGLE client, the “Client” column gives way to “Notes”: it was repeating the same name on every row. In the days table Notes sit right after Activity. With all clients, or more than one, nothing changes.
- Improved“Confirm” on an expense is now a solid button rather than one label among three. It is the gesture that decides whether that expense counts in the statement totals, and it looked exactly like “Edit” and “Void”.
- NewBefore exporting the month, a line now says how many days and how many expenses are unconfirmed — and that they stay out of the document’s totals. The list of what was missing was already there; the consequence was not.
- ImprovedWhen planning a range, dates that already carry a confirmed day are skipped and the count is shown: there is nothing left to infer there. The rest stay writable, past months included — that is how you reconstruct a stretch you never recorded.
- FixedThe rate you pick while recording a day is no longer lost: confirming finds it already there. The question was asked up front but the answer only travelled with the confirmation, so saving a draft threw it away.
- FixedA receipt you had just photographed did not appear on the expense until you reloaded the page. The app was asking the server for the receipts of the expenses that existed BEFORE the save, so the new one was never even looked for.
- ImprovedSaving an expense dated in another month now takes the list there. The notice already said where it would land; the list stayed on the open month, and not finding what you just saved reads as having lost it.
- ImprovedAfter reading a receipt, the app now also says what it looked for and did not find. It used to stay silent, and on a silent field there was no way to tell “it is not printed here” from “I never looked”.
- FixedThe receipt photo taken from the expense form was being rejected: it left at full resolution with the camera’s hidden data inside. It is now resized and stripped, as it already was when attaching to an already-saved expense.
- ImprovedIn Planning, “Repeat a pattern” now says what it does: the dates in the range take your activities in turn, starting over until the last one. The button used to say “Add to the rhythm” — one thing had three names on the same panel.
- FixedRows of pills sat flush against the label above them, while every other field in the same column had breathing room. The spacing is now the same everywhere.
- ImprovedOpening a date you have already planned, the panel now says so: what is there, for whom, and how certain it is. Before you read “no day recorded” — true, but silent, and silence reads as “nothing here”. Recording the day does not erase the plan.
- FixedThe day panel was misaligned too: the Event field dropped to the bottom of its cell instead of sitting under its label. Same cause as the other fix below, in a different place in the stylesheet.
- FixedThe planning form was badly laid out on a wide screen: the client dropdown became a box half a column tall, the activity pills turned into giant circles, and Place and Event ended up detached from the rest. Fields now line up and wide blocks take the full row.
- ImprovedIn planning, a line under client and engagement now says that the last entry in the list creates a new one: the option was already there, but only visible once you opened the dropdown.
- NewWith time tracking on, the calendar now shows how long each day lasted — in the grid and in the list. Hours were already in the statement and inside a day, but not in the month: anyone working by the hour opened it and did not find the figure that matters to them.
- NewIf you work by the hour rather than by the day, the site now says so: Giornata records and totals hours too, and the monthly statement carries them alongside everything else. Same product, not a different edition.
- NewOn the web, next to the Place field there is now “I’m here”: one location reading, only when you ask for it, to recognise a place you have already saved and write its name for you. The first time somewhere new, one tap remembers it. No background location and no history: it stays on this device and is never sent to Giornata.
- ImprovedSaving a new password now fires both requests TOGETHER instead of one after the other: the wait is the longer of the two, not the sum of them.
- FixedSigning out no longer shows a count of “unsynced changes” that never went down: it was also counting the ones already on the server. And now, if something really has not gone up, the same pill that used to say “all in sync” says so.
- FixedThe “Also note the time” switch no longer turns itself off. It really did switch on, and went back off at the first sync because the app never read that choice back from the server: now it stays on.
- NewAn engagement can now be paid AS A LUMP SUM: amount, currency and the date it matures. Days under it are recorded and confirmed as always and the report shows “covered” instead of zero; the amount appears once, in the month it matures. Adding or removing dates never changes what the other days are worth.
- NewWhen planning you can now compose the PATTERN of a leg — travel, show, show, off — and it repeats until the range ends: a three-week tour takes four taps instead of twenty-one dates. A line tells you how many dates it covers and how many rounds it makes, before you commit.
- FixedIf times are switched off in Settings, the Start and End fields no longer appear on a day’s form. The switch already promised this and only applied to the report. A day that already carries a time keeps showing it, so nothing disappears from the screen.
- Fixed“Days to check” no longer suggests recording days that have not happened yet: a day is confirmed once it has happened, and before that there is nothing to record. Planned dates stay in the calendar, where they work as a reminder.
- FixedIn the calendar the amount shows its currency again next to the figure. And “Days to check” no longer repeats the same day: two identical plans on one date become a single suggestion, while two genuinely different plans stay two.
- NewFrom the phone too, a planned date can now say who it is for: client, engagement and activity type, with the same chips you use when recording a day.
- NewIf you have switched times on in Settings, the monthly report now carries an HOURS column and the total of confirmed hours. Switched off, the column is not there at all: never a column of dashes on a document you hand over. Hours are exact to the minute and the column adds up to the total.
- NewWhen planning you can now also say what KIND of day it is — show, travel, set-up — with the same chips you use when recording. The kind shows in the calendar and comes pre-selected when you open that date to record it.
- FixedDates you plan now show up in the calendar in both views — including the list, where they did not appear at all before. A planned date is told apart from a recorded day, and “unavailable” from “planned”: the word is always there next to the sign.
- FixedAdding the same period twice no longer creates duplicate dates: a plan identical to one already there is skipped, and the app tells you how many. Two genuinely different plans on the same date are still possible, because they are two different things.
- ImprovedOn a date you entered yourself, the button no longer says “Use suggestion” but “Record the day”: it is not the app guessing, it is your own plan. “Use suggestion” stays where the app really is suggesting something.
- ImprovedWhen planning, if the client or engagement you are looking for does not exist yet, you create it right there: a row opens under the dropdown, you type the name, and it gets selected for you. No more leaving for another page and losing the dates you had already entered — and it works offline too.
- ImprovedIn the calendar, the “Planning” and “Export the month” blocks now start collapsed: you see the title and what they are for, and you open them when you need them. The calendar is back at the top instead of sitting below two forms you rarely use.
- ImprovedA day’s form no longer asks for a “Locality”: it asked the same thing as “Venue” two fields above, and on the phone it never existed. Days that already carry one still show it and still let you correct it — nothing disappears, it is only no longer asked for.
- NewGiornata now asks how you work: on your own, or as an employee. An employee sees the count of days as the big figure instead of the compensation, and if they turn on the tally of allowances and premiums the total is called “on top of your salary” — because that is what it is, not pay. It can be changed at any time from settings, on the phone and in the browser, and it touches none of the days you have already recorded.
- FixedThe site’s footer said registrations were not open yet. That has not been true for a week: you create your account and you are in. The sentence was removed from the sign-up and sign-in pages when the door opened, and it survived at the bottom of every page.
- ImprovedA day’s hours can now be entered from “Today” as well, not only by reopening the day from the calendar. They stay two optional fields: leaving them empty records the day with the same single gesture as before.
- FixedOn the phone the app’s header was being squashed and the logo ended up stuck to the top edge. The bar was letting itself shrink whenever the content below was taller than the screen: it now keeps its own height.
- ImprovedA day can now carry its hours. Two optional fields — start and end — on the phone and in the browser, and they stay optional: recording on the fly does not require them. A shift that ends after midnight is written as it is, 22:00 → 02:00, and stays one single day, on the date it began.
- ImprovedThe home page now answers the questions people ask before trying a product — whether Giornata is a management tool for the service company, whether it really works with no connection, whether one date can hold two jobs, and what happens when you correct a day. That spot used to carry the questions about the plans, which stay where they are useful: on the pricing page.
- ImprovedOn the phone, if you have Place Memory on, the places you stopped at for a while now turn up as proposals among the days to check. Two distant places on the same day make two proposals, not a choice made for you. And a place you marked as home does not produce a work proposal — unless you turn that place off. None of this leaves the phone.
- ImprovedGiornata now asks whether you already have a tour or an engagement planned, instead of waiting for you to think of it: enter the dates you know and closing the month becomes a matter of minutes. The question is skipped with a button and does not come back at the next launch; it reappears once when you create a new engagement, which is usually the moment you have the dates in hand.
- ImprovedThe dates you had planned are now brought back to you. If you had marked the 14th as a working day and have not recorded it yet, you will find it among the days to check — with the client, the engagement and the venue you had written — and from there you record it with the form already filled in. Dates marked as “not available” are never proposed, and neither are the ones you cancelled.
- FixedWhen an expense is left with no amount — which happens whenever the photo is not a receipt — the row now says “amount to complete” on both surfaces. On the phone it used to say “amount to read”, which left you waiting for a reading that was never coming: the number is yours to write.
- ImprovedOn the phone, if you have denied the location permission the app now tells apart two cases that used to be one: when the phone will ask again, and when it has stopped asking. In the second it says so and opens Settings for you, instead of offering a button that no longer does anything.
- ImprovedIf you sign out while something has not been synced yet, the app now tells you: how many changes are waiting, that they stay on this device, and that they resume the next time you sign in with the same account. Signing out never deleted them — it just did not say so, and they vanished from the screen. When nothing is waiting, signing out is still a single tap.
- ImprovedIn the app, when Place Memory is off, it now also says what it costs your battery: turning it on does not keep the GPS running — the phone only tells Giornata when you stop for a while or change area. No continuous tracking. Before, that explanation only appeared moments before you turned it on, when you had already decided.
- ImprovedThe “Place” field now suggests the venues you have already worked at, most recent first, and the list narrows as you type — regardless of capitals or accents. The field stays open: a new place you just type as before. The suggestions come from your own days, so they work with no connection and never leave your device.
- ImprovedOn the phone, writing an expense is now its own screen: it opens full, and the back button closes it and returns you where you were instead of taking you away. And the expense list is now drawn as you scroll — with hundreds of expenses in it, opening that screen no longer slows down.
- ImprovedOn the phone, “Expenses” now opens on what you have spent this month and on what you have already recorded: the form is no longer sitting at the top pushing everything else below. To add one you choose how to start — photograph the receipt, or write it by hand if you do not have one. And if you were in the middle of writing an expense and left, you find it open where it was.
- ImprovedOn the phone, “More” is now split in three: your work (activity types, calendar, places), your account (who you are and which plan you have) and Giornata (privacy, terms, support, version). Signing out and deleting the account sit on their own at the bottom, after everything else: before they were in among the other items and drawn like them. And privacy and terms open from inside the app, without hunting for them on the site.
- ImprovedOn “Today” the date now appears once. When the day is recorded the title spells it out and the short badge beside it — which repeated the same thing — is gone; when it is not yet recorded the badge stays, because there it is the only place the day is written.
- ImprovedOn “Today”, a day is now named by its event and its place together — “Giusy Ferreri - Civitaquana”. With only one of the two, that one shows; with neither, the client comes up, then the engagement. And in the panel Event has moved above Place, because it is the first thing you think of.
- ImprovedAttached documents now have a name you can read. A phone camera gives its shots names like “17883632556006882801646118154164.jpg”, which take a whole line and distinguish nothing: in their place you now see “Foto 1”, “Documento 2”. A name you chose yourself stays yours. And while a document is opening the button says so, instead of looking as though your tap went unregistered.
- NewIn Settings, under attachment space, you can now also see how many documents are stored.
- FixedA photo that has been attached and has arrived is no longer reported as an interrupted upload. If the app was already sending that photo and the automatic sync run started at the same moment, the second of the two found the work already done and reported it as a failure: the photo was where it should be and the message told you to try again.
- NewIf a request gets stuck on a refusal, Settings shows a “Sync” entry with how many there are, and one gesture to discard them and re-read everything from the server. It appears only in that case: while nothing is stuck there is nothing to maintain, and the app does not ask you to deal with it. Days and expenses the server already has are untouched.
- FixedA day is confirmed once it has happened, not before. Recording a future date is still possible — that is how you plan a job — but confirming it, and therefore the pay it earns, waits for the day itself. Before, you could confirm a day in 2027 and watch it land in December 2027’s earnings.
- ImprovedOn your phone too, the rate is now chosen BEFORE confirming. It used to take pressing Confirm, waiting, reading a warning and only then choosing: now the question comes straight away, and if you have already answered it for the same client and the same kind of work, that answer sits at the top, marked as the suggestion.
- ImprovedA subscription can now be stopped from inside the app, under “Subscription”, in two taps. The period you have already paid for stays yours in full: only the next renewal stops, and you can turn it back on until that period ends.
- ImprovedThe rate now arrives already chosen. When several rates apply to the same day, the app proposes the one from your last confirmed day for the same client and the same kind of work: if it fits, “Save and confirm” stays a single gesture. It is still a menu, so you can always change it, and a rate that does not apply today is never proposed.
- ImprovedThe home page asked nearly the same question twice, two screens apart. Now there is one section: the question, the answer, what you stop doing at month-end, and the three cases — freelance, employed, and doing both.
- ImprovedExpenses now open with the month at the top: how much you spent this month, per currency, and how many expenses are still waiting for an amount — because those are not in the total, and now it says so. Before, the figure added up everything without saying which period it meant.
- NewReceipts now open from your phone. Tap the file name on an expense and the document opens in whichever app you prefer: before, you only saw the name, and had to switch to a browser to look at the receipt.
- NewFrom your phone too you can now choose what each row of the month list says: engagement, client, activity type, pay. And the rule about amounts — what the numbers you type actually mean — is written there as well now, not only in the browser.
- NewYou can now manage activity types from your phone: rename them, pick the mark and the colour, add new ones, retire them. It used to be browser-only — but it is while recording a day that you notice “Show” is called “Gig” in your world.
- NewThe tour can be replayed. The three cards from the first launch come back whenever you want, from Settings: under “Sign out” on your phone, in “App and privacy” on the web. Before, if you skipped it you could never see it again.
- NewTwo jobs on the same day are two days, and now you can record both. Open a date that already has a day and you will find “Add another day on this date”: each one has its own client, its own rate and its own pay.
- NewOn your phone, Place Memory can now note where you stop even when the app is closed. It is optional, off by default, switched on from Settings and off whenever you like: it uses low-power readings, always shows a notification while it is running, and the stops stay on that phone — they are never sent to Giornata and never appear anywhere else.
- NewAn expense now also says WHERE the document was issued — “Roma”, “Milano Centrale” — and the automatic reading fills it in by itself when the receipt says so. It is a field of its own, not a line in the notes, so it can go in a column in a report. It is what the paper says, never where you were.
- NewPhotographing the same expense twice now warns you on your phone too. The warning only existed on the web — that is, not where you take the photo. Now, if an expense with the same date and amount is already recorded, the app tells you before saving another one and lets you choose: save it anyway, or discard it.
- NewYou can now remove a receipt from an expense on your phone. Before, you could only see how many there were: photographing the wrong receipt meant opening a browser to fix it. Each receipt now shows its own name and comes off from there — the file isn’t deleted, it is only unlinked from the expense.
- FixedA cancelled day stays cancelled. If you cancelled a day and then tried to restore it, and the restore was refused because more than one rate could apply, the day showed up as confirmed again and its amount went back into the month’s earnings — a wrong figure under a notice still asking you to choose. The restore now asks for the rate before it starts, and nothing the server has already accepted is undone by a refused attempt.
- ImprovedRecording a day is one gesture. “Save and confirm” does all of it: before, it took a save, a confirm and — when more than one rate applies to that day — a third confirm after a red warning. The rate question, when there is one, is now part of the form from the start, and any edit you had in progress is saved along with the confirmation instead of being lost.
- FixedA day the server refused can now really be corrected. If the entry was rejected — an impossible date, a client that no longer exists — correcting it did nothing: the day stayed on your device and every attempt produced the same refusal. Now, as long as the server has never accepted that day, correcting it rewrites it from scratch instead of sending a correction to something that does not exist.
- FixedThe rate you picked no longer clears itself. When the app synced while you had a day’s panel open, the rate menu went blank and you had to pick again — sometimes several times over. What you are writing now stays yours: only opening a different day reloads the form.
- FixedOn a phone the bottom navigation bar now stays put and reads in full. It used to shift as you scrolled, and at the top of the page it showed up cut off: the content now scrolls in its own box, the bar stays where it is, and its height follows the words rather than being fixed — so the labels stay readable even with your phone’s text size turned up.
- ImprovedIf you photograph a receipt from another month, the app tells you. The date used to go into the expense and the expense would vanish from the list you were looking at, because the report follows the document’s date: now you read “this receipt is from August, the expense will go into August’s report” and, if that is wrong, the date is right there to change. It also applies when you typed the date yourself before taking the photo.
- ImprovedThe app’s dialogs — the question before deleting, a day’s panel, messages — now really hold on to the Tab key. Keyboard focus used to slip out onto the calendar behind while a question was still waiting on screen, leaving anyone using a keyboard or a screen reader with no way to tell where they were.
- NewIf you record an expense with the same amount, on the same date and in the same currency as one you already have, the app tells you before saving and shows you which one: you can save it anyway — two identical coffees on the same day do happen — or discard it. The check runs on your device, so it works with no connection.
- ImprovedAn expense’s receipt opens straight from its row: “See the receipt”, and there it is. Before, you had to go through “Edit” and find it at the bottom of the form — opening the gesture that changes things to do something that changes nothing.
- FixedReceipt photos are now actually kept. They were uploaded and then discarded by the server because they still carried the camera’s hidden data — often including the GPS location where you took the shot — and stayed “waiting to upload” forever. The image is now re-made clean before it leaves: no hidden data goes with it, it weighs far less, and the receipt opens from the expense.
- FixedAn expense with no amount can be recorded again. The server refused it with “the amount is not in a format I accept”, and that refusal was wrong: photographing a receipt now and completing it later is intended, and the screen says so. It goes through now — and an amount entered by mistake can be removed too.
- FixedAttaching a receipt photo now always says how it went. If something goes wrong along the way a sentence appears instead of silence, and the photo stays safe on your device; and while the app has not yet heard from the server whether your plan includes attachments, it says so instead of hiding the button.
- FixedIn the PDF report, column headings no longer break in the middle of a word. It showed on “ACTIVITY”, which lost its last letter to the line below; a second column had the same fault and nobody had seen it yet. Every heading is now measured before the document exists.
- NewYou can sign in and sign up with Google. It is the same account as always: if the Google address is the one you registered with, you find everything you had — no second account is created. Apple comes later, and its button says so instead of pretending to work.
- NewThe calendar now also knows what is *supposed* to happen: a tour, a date on hold, a day when you are away. On the phone you tap the start and the end of the period and pick one of the three; in the browser you type the dates. They count towards no total — a month full of planned dates is worth nothing until you record a work day — and they block nothing: if you do end up working that day, you record it as always.
- NewSaved places arrive in the phone app: name the places where you work and say what they mean — at home you are not working, in the warehouse you probably are. From there the app starts remembering stops so it can suggest the days you never recorded. It is optional, you can switch it off and erase it whenever you want, and everything stays on that phone: it never reaches us and never goes into backups.
- NewIn the phone app, below the month calendar, Giornata points out the days that look left behind — a date where you recorded an expense and no work day, for instance — and tells you why. You can use it, edit it, or mark “no work”, and that last one can always be undone. No day is ever created unless you save it.
- NewA warning about an expense or a day that is no longer anywhere on screen now goes away on its own. It used to stay for ever with nothing to press: you cannot delete what you cannot see. When the row is still there the warning stays, because there is something to fix.
- FixedIf you delete an expense or a day the server had never accepted, it now really goes away — and the warning about it goes with it. Before, the warning stayed for ever: the thing had been refused, deleting it could not be told to anyone, and no gesture existed to be rid of it.
- FixedA voided day or expense no longer accepts new photos, and if you try the app says so in the right words: “it has been voided”, not “it is not available yet”. Photos already attached stay where they are and can still be removed.
- NewA work day can now carry its own photos: the rig, the stage, the layout. They stay with the day and you find them again months later. Attach them from the day panel on the web and from the list on the phone.
- NewBefore exporting the month you see what is missing: days still to confirm, days waiting for your answer about a rate, expenses to confirm — each with the gesture that opens it. No more re-reading the whole calendar to spot a forgotten draft.
- FixedWhen the app asks “are you sure?”, the button that backs out now says “Leave it as it is”. It used to say “Cancel” — and on an expense, where cancelling is what you were about to do, the dialog had two buttons with the same name and opposite meanings.
- ImprovedWhen a day’s form opens already filled in from a suggestion, it now says so: you can see where those values come from and that you may correct them before saving.
- NewClients and engagements get a readable heading and a button to add one; each client carries its initials inside the colour you picked, so you recognise it while scrolling. A client with no colour chosen still gets none.
- ImprovedRates are cards now: each one shows since when it applies, what to, and how much — with a stripe in the colour of the client it belongs to. And the promise that matters sits where you edit: days already confirmed keep the rate used at the time.
- ImprovedIn Settings, how much of your subscription is left reads at the top instead of being the last line of a list. And the five sections are a full list: they used to be a strip you had to scroll, and the last one was out of sight.
- ImprovedIf something you recorded is not going out, the app says so instead of only showing “to send” — and offers to retry now. You used to find out on another device that it had never arrived.
- FixedButtons and fields share one text size across the app: the primary button used to be measured in a different unit from the rest, so enlarging the browser text grew the others and left it behind.
- NewAn expense can now be confirmed, and a voided one restored. It was needed: only confirmed expenses go into the monthly report, so until now the expense total was always empty. What you confirm now adds up.
- FixedWhen the fault is on our server, the app says so instead of advising you to get back online. The document stays safe on the device and it retries by itself.
- FixedAfter photographing a receipt you now see the photo: the form used to hold it without saying so, while asking alongside to attach a document — that is, to re-attach the photo just taken.
- FixedVoiding an expense now asks for confirmation on the web too, as it already did on the phone.
- ImprovedThe “Needs attention” notice is visible from any screen and now also takes you to the expense that caused it, not just to the day. With a stuck expense it used to be a sentence with no action at all — and it sat at the bottom of the calendar.
- ImprovedAn expense with no amount says so — “amount to complete” — instead of showing up as an ordinary row with a dash. It happens whenever the photo was not of a receipt.
- ImprovedReceipts still waiting to upload are counted in the expense list, so “there is no document” and “it has not arrived yet” stop being the same sentence.
- ImprovedIn the phone app the day list reads at a glance: the day is a large number with its weekday underneath, the title says what that day was, and the amount sits on the right. Every row used to open with the date in digits, identical across all of them but the last two figures.
- FixedIn “Today”, day types can be selected again: the redesign had left the chips without their appearance, so pressing one changed nothing. They are also smaller now and take up less room.
- Fixed“Add an expense” now opens the form where you are already looking. It used to open below the whole list — off screen as soon as the month had more than three expenses — so the button looked like it did nothing.
- ImprovedThe expense list is more compact: each row takes a quarter less height, so a full month scrolls in one screen instead of three.
- ImprovedWhen Giornata pre-fills today by copying an earlier day, the fields it filled now carry a “proposed” mark. It disappears as soon as you change them, so you can see at a glance what is a guess and what you wrote.
- FixedIn the phone app, the labels on several buttons — “Confirm”, “Correct”, “Delete”, “Sign out” — took their colour from the phone rather than from the app, and on a dark background could come out nearly invisible. They all have their own now.
- ImprovedIn the phone app, navigation moved to the bottom of the screen, where your thumb is: all four sections are visible at once instead of sitting in a strip at the top you had to scroll.
- NewOpening Giornata for the first time now shows three cards saying what it is for and where to start. One tap skips them and they never come back: the whole app is already there underneath, and recording a day works regardless.
- FixedThe date read from the receipt now actually reaches the expense. The form opened with a date already in it — the first of the month on the web, today on the phone — and that date blocked the receipt’s, which was discarded every time. Photograph a receipt dated the 14th and the expense is dated the 14th. If you changed the date yourself before photographing, yours stays: a photo never overwrites what you typed.
- FixedIf you photograph a receipt and the app cannot keep the picture, it now tells you as you take it — not afterwards, when the receipt is already back in your pocket. And if it is still syncing, the picture is kept anyway and attached as soon as it can be: it used to be dropped silently.
- FixedThe “Continue with Google” and “Continue with Apple” buttons looked pressable and did nothing. They were not broken — those two sign-ins are not live yet, and the buttons were already inert — but they were drawn exactly like the ones that work, so pressing them looked like a fault in the app. They now appear switched off, like everything else that is not available yet, and the page says they are coming later.
- NewIn the calendar, under the month, the app now points out the days where you left a trace and never recorded a work day — an expense logged on the 15th with no day on the 15th, for instance. For each one it tells you WHY it is suggesting it, and you always have three choices: use the suggestion, open and edit it, or say “no work”. Saying so is your decision and it is recorded: that date stops being suggested, on this and on every other device of yours, and if you change your mind you can put it back among the suggestions whenever you like. No work day and no pay are created: a suggestion stays a suggestion until you are the one who confirms it. And if you later do record a work day on a date you had set aside, your decision withdraws itself: a fact outranks a reminder you had asked not to get.
- NewThe holiday premium is now something you set: how much more a holiday is worth, and which rate it is calculated from. It used to be fixed at 100% of whichever rate applied that day, written into the program and impossible to change. Now you write it yourself on the Rates page — “+100%”, “+50%”, whatever you agreed — and choose the rate it is computed from, which is the difference you notice the day a holiday falls on a day paid at half. If several premiums apply to the same day they add up, and each stays its own line on the report: 350 for the day plus 350 for the holiday, never 700 with no explanation. You also choose the date it applies from: changing it today leaves past days alone, still paid at whatever was in force on their own day. Until you set one, a holiday cannot be confirmed with the premium, and the app says why instead of quietly paying you zero.
- FixedThe privacy notice now names two providers it did not name: **Anthropic**, which reads a receipt when you photograph one, and **Purelymail**, which hosts the mailboxes we answer you from. Neither received more data than before — what Anthropic gets is one photograph at a time plus your category codes, which the reading keeps no copy of and which Anthropic holds for 30 days without training on it; if you then attach it to the expense as its receipt, that copy stays and you can take it off the expense whenever you want — but they were not written down, and a provider that handles a photo of yours belongs where you can read it. From today the page cannot fall behind again: a test compares it with the list of authorised providers and fails the release if one is missing.
- FixedAt the foot of the flow overview on the home page, the “Create your account” link opened the page that explains how it works instead of the sign-up form. The explanation was already one link away just above; now this one goes where it says it goes.
- FixedThe site’s two main buttons — “Try Giornata for 60 days” and “Create your account” — were white on white and unreadable. It was not the button’s colour: it was a general rule about links, stronger than the button’s own, forcing on it the colour of the band it sat in. Same cause as the earlier fix on the sign-up and sign-in pages, in a place that fix did not reach. And the sign-in page pushed all its content to the left instead of keeping it centred: the column was as wide as the site’s, not as wide as the card.
- ImprovedThe site has been rebuilt on the approved proposal: new layout, new colours, and pages that alternate dark and light bands instead of being dark throughout. The features are browsed as tabs, prices switch between monthly and yearly with one tap, and the questions open one at a time — all without JavaScript, so it works where scripts do not arrive.
- FixedOn the sign-up and sign-in pages the button was white on white and unreadable. It was not a wrong colour: it was an absent one — those pages sat outside the space where the site’s colours are defined. Also fixed on the legal pages and on this one, where the text was dark grey on a dark ground. And button labels are no longer written in capitals, because a screen reader can spell them out instead of reading them.
- NewWhen you create an account, Giornata now asks which currency you are paid in instead of assuming the euro. It is the workspace currency and it cannot be changed afterwards, so it is chosen once at the start: anyone working in Switzerland, the United Kingdom or Scandinavia starts with their own. The time zone is still detected from the device and only shown, because there is no reason to ask for it.
- FixedAutomatic receipt reading got the date wrong: «05/08/2026» could become 5 May instead of 5 August, and on a document with several dates it could pick an expiry date rather than the issue date. It now looks at the document before deciding — the language, the currency, the address, the time — so an Italian date is read the Italian way and a foreign one its own way; it recognises abbreviated months and two-digit years; and when the document is not enough to settle it, it leaves the field empty instead of guessing. Amount reading improved alongside it: the total is now told apart from the net amount, the change given and the cash handed over.
- FixedOn the phone you could type a date that does not exist — “31/08/2026”, or 30 February — and the day was saved, then refused by the server, and at that point could neither be corrected nor deleted. Saving is now closed until the date is a real one, and the message says how to write it instead of only saying it is wrong.
- FixedOn the phone, when the server refused a day, the notice appeared at the top of the screen without saying WHICH day it was about and with no way to answer. The sentence now sits on the day that caused it, translated, and carries the gesture that resolves it: for a public holiday there are “Yes, apply it” and “No, normal pay”; for an ambiguous rate there are the rates the server is asking you to choose between. When it is fixed in the browser instead, it says so, rather than leaving you in front of a mute notice.
- NewOn the phone you can now correct a day you already recorded: “Correct” opens the same form with the values in it, and you change the date, place, event, client, engagement or activity. Before, you could only confirm, cancel or delete it. On a cancelled day the button is absent, because a cancelled day is not corrected: it is restored.
- NewOn the phone, in the Account tab, you now see how many trial days you have left — and, with an active subscription, when it renews. That number used to exist only in the browser, which is not where you open the app every day.
- NewOn the phone a day now also says WHO you worked for. Client, engagement and activity are one tap away while you record, just as in the browser: before, you could only enter the date, the place and the event, and the rate had nothing to decide on. And if you recorded a day recently, the app offers that one — “same as 26 August” — to tap and fill the form. Nothing is saved until you press “Save day”.
- FixedWhen something went wrong, the app always said the same thing — “Something went wrong” — whether the session had expired, the network was down, the browser refused to store anything, or an update had not yet reached our side. It now says which of the four it is, and what to do: where nothing is yours to do, it says so.
- FixedIn the calendar the “All days” switch overlapped the “Today” button and did not change appearance when clicked. It now sits where it belongs and lights up.
- NewThe phone now has “Photograph the receipt”: you take the shot, the app fills in the expense fields and keeps the photo. The camera permission is asked for at that moment, not at launch, and denying it blocks nothing — you write the expense by hand as before.
- NewReceipts are actually kept now. You photograph the receipt, the app fills in the fields, and the photo now stays attached to the expense: you find it again by opening the expense, even months later. It is included in the Pro plan. Correcting the expense does not detach the receipt, and removing it from an expense does not delete the document.
- NewYou can now close your account from the app: the same words and the same request as on the site, without opening a browser.
- FixedA mistyped amount — “12.5o”, with the letter o instead of a zero — used to save the expense with no amount at all, silently. Now it says so next to the field and will not save until it is readable: an empty box stays legitimate, unreadable text does not.
- NewExpenses can now be recorded on the phone too: amount, currency, type, client and engagement, with totals kept separate per currency. A receipt starts in your pocket, not at a desk.
- FixedIn list view the weekday was off by one: Saturday 1 August was labelled “Sun”. The list and the calendar now say the same day, and a check compares them on every build.
- ImprovedIf you enter a date more than a year in the past or the future, the app points it out with the year spelled out — “this day is in 2016, is that right?” — and the button becomes “Save in 2016”. Nothing is blocked: an old year you are catching up on, or a day already scheduled, still takes one click.
- NewPhotograph the receipt and the expense fills itself in: amount, date, merchant and type. It never touches a field you already wrote yourself, and it saves nothing — it fills the form and then you check it. Included in the Pro plan, with a hundred and fifty readings a month.
- ImprovedA rate can now be tied to a kind of day: “days off only”, “travel only”. So when you confirm, the app no longer asks which rate to use — only the right one is left.
- FixedYour days now show up straight away on all your devices. The app used to check the server only every thirty seconds and never woke up when you came back to it: opening your phone in the morning could show you last night’s data for a few minutes. Now it checks on opening, every time you come back, and every ten seconds while you are using it — without you pressing anything.
- ImprovedWhen two rates could apply to the same day, the app asks before confirming instead of refusing and making you try again.
- NewEvery rate and every expense now carries its own currency: a rate in francs for the Swiss client, everything else in euros. A month with two currencies shows two totals — they are never added together.
- ImprovedIn list view a switch shows every day of the month, so a past day can be recorded from there too. Off by default, because the list of what you actually did reads cleaner.
- FixedIn the PDF report the Date and Client columns no longer touch, and the status no longer breaks across two lines.
- NewWhen there is something to know — a new feature, a maintenance window, an extension on your subscription — Giornata tells you inside the app, once. The message closes when you read it and never comes back, not even on your other devices.
- NewThe home page now has a place to suggest a feature. Giornata grows with the people working inside it: if something is missing, tell us.
- FixedThe warnings that used to sit on screen saying nothing useful are gone. When something cannot be done, the app now says so in plain words, once, right where you pressed — and it never asks you to reload the page.
- ImprovedA client’s chosen colour shows beside their name, without opening the card.
- NewA cancelled day can now be deleted for good: it disappears from here and from every other device of yours. Days you once confirmed stay, because they are part of your pay history — cancelled, they count towards no total anyway.
- ImprovedA client’s colour is picked from a row of swatches instead of a list of names, and the “Event” field sits beside the venue. Every form’s buttons now keep the same distance from the fields.
- NewEvery day now has an “Event” field beside the venue: the name of the night, the festival or the date, which used to end up in the notes. It shows on the calendar and in a column of the monthly report.
- NewYou can give each client a colour and recognise them at a glance on the calendar. The colour is a line along the edge of the cell: the day’s state — draft, confirmed, cancelled — stays exactly where it was.
- FixedThe colour picker offered five shades out of twelve. All of them are there now, and each is named after its own colour.
- FixedIf you use Giornata on several devices or tabs, the last one to save wins and the others align by themselves. The app used to ask you to choose between two of your own versions: it no longer does, because there was nothing to choose.
- FixedA day could stay stuck on an old version after a conflict, and every attempt to confirm it failed the same way. The app now fetches the version the server points to, instead of falling back to the one it had before.
- FixedTwo quick taps on the same button no longer create two days. The lock is immediate instead of arriving with the screen redraw.
- FixedWith no connection, a pending day no longer says “confirming”: it says it will confirm as soon as you are back online, and that it is already saved on the device.
- ImprovedWhen a day cannot be confirmed because rates are missing, there is now a button that takes you there. The explanation was there before; the way was not.
- FixedA confirmed day could stay “draft” on screen while the server already held it confirmed with its pay. It happened with two browser tabs open at once: the session was revoked and the app quietly stopped receiving updates. Tabs no longer interfere with each other, and if updates stop arriving the app says so instead of pretending otherwise.
- FixedWhen a day has changed elsewhere too, there is now a button to start again from the most recent version. The notice used to say “open it to choose” and, once open, there was nothing to choose: the change stayed stuck in the queue with no way to release it.
- ImprovedThe app no longer freezes after a save. Buttons come back as soon as the data is safe on the device, without waiting for the server: every tap used to cost a full network round trip.
- NewSettings are now split into sections instead of one long list, and the last one is Diagnostics: if something is not updating, it says why in three lines you can screenshot.
- NewThe monthly statement can be exported for a single client, expenses included, and states in writing that it is a statement and not an invoice or a tax document.
- NewYou can delete your account from Settings. We tell you first what disappears and remind you to export the months you need; then you type CANCELLA to confirm. Access ends at once, on every device, and the data is destroyed and recorded right after.
- NewActivity types are now managed from Settings: rename them, give them a sign and a colour, add your own. Changing a name leaves already-recorded days untouched, and a retired type disappears from future choices while staying on every day that refers to it.
- NewYou can export the month. From the calendar, “Download the PDF” creates a document with the days, the expenses and the totals — with a number and a generation date, so you can refer to it — ready to attach to an invoice. On the Pro plan you can also download it as a spreadsheet, with the amounts already as numbers. The document is created on your device: it never passes through our servers.
- NewYou can now log expenses in the app: date, amount, type, client and who bears the cost. The amount may be missing — you photograph a receipt now and read it later — and the monthly total is shown per currency, never by adding different ones together.
- NewFrom Settings you can move to Base or Pro and pay by card. The payment page shows the price before you confirm, and you can cancel whenever you want.
- NewSettings now show how many days are left of your trial, and accept an extension code if you have one. A code lengthens the trial: it is not a discount and does not change the price.
- FixedOn a new device the app could say “No rate set up” to someone who had one: it now waits until your data has arrived before saying anything is missing.
- FixedWhen resetting your password, reusing the old one now says so plainly instead of showing a generic error.
- ImprovedOn the home page the trades and contexts are highlighted, not just bold, and the opening line is leaner.
- ImprovedOn the home page the trades and contexts — technicians, crew, freelancers, events, tours, productions — stand out, so you can tell in three seconds whether the page is about you.
- FixedIn the phone menu the “Create account” button was white on white: it reads now.
- FixedA day could stay stuck on “confirming…” forever when the device started from a version the server had never seen. It now recovers on its own.
- ImprovedThe “Needs attention” notice now takes you to the day that caused it, instead of only saying something is wrong.
- ImprovedThe header logo scales with the screen: it no longer gets lost on desktop.
- NewThe site now has a privacy notice and terms of service, in all four languages, linked from the footer.
- FixedThe app responds the moment you save. Every save used to wait for the server before releasing the screen: the work is safe on the device now, and syncing happens on its own.
- FixedA server question you have already answered no longer stays attached to the day. A confirmed day could show its amount and, above it, a request to choose a rate.
- NewActivity types are visible in settings, with their mark: before, you only found them by opening a day.
- NewThe 60-day trial starts when the account is created, so “which plan am I on” and “how long is left” have an answer from the first second.
- NewA confirmed day can carry a negotiated amount: a dedicated button records it, with its reason. It stays a correction — the day keeps its history and the reason stays beside the figure.
- NewThe calendar shows the engagement, the client and the activity mark in every cell, and settings let you choose what to see — the amount included.
- FixedThe day panel closes when you save. It used to stay open on any day that had once been refused, however long ago, which made Save look broken.
- FixedServer notices are in your language, always. Some refusals used to arrive as technical English; an unrecognised one now says what to do rather than what went wrong.
- FixedThe flags in the language menu now show on Windows too, where the system does not draw those emoji and showed two letters instead.
- FixedConfirming a day after the server had asked which rate applies used to lead nowhere: the confirmation waited behind a request that had already been withdrawn, and the amount stayed at zero. It goes through now.
- FixedA day no longer calls itself confirmed before the server agrees: while the confirmation is under way the panel says so, and the amount appears once it is really decided.
- NewA rate can belong to a single client: when you record a day for that client it applies on its own, without asking which one to use.
- NewRates can be corrected and deleted; jobs can be corrected and closed, and closing one tells you how many days refer to it — those stay exactly as they were.
- NewThe month can be read two ways: as a grid, as before, or as a list where each day shows client, job, place and kind of activity.
- ImprovedThe kind of activity is visible: a mark in the calendar cell and a coloured label in the list.
- ImprovedThe app answers faster on every tap: the reads a screen needs now start together instead of one after another.
- ImprovedA day’s panel always stays closable, even when scrolled, and “Save” is inactive until something changes.
- ImprovedOn the site the languages sit in a menu with flags instead of in a row in the header.
- NewA month calendar replaces the list of days: recorded, draft and withdrawn days read at a glance — and the gaps show.
- NewThe month’s earned compensation sits at the top of the screen, with the number of confirmed days.
- ImprovedA day is correctable in full — date, client, engagement, place, notes — and no longer only in its date.
- ImprovedWhen the server does not accept a day it now says so in plain words, on the day itself, and offers the action that resolves it: which rate applies, or whether to apply the holiday premium.
- ImprovedSync is silent: the “Sync now” button is gone, because what you write is already safe on the device before the screen answers.
- NewGiornata installs on a phone’s home screen and opens full screen, like an app.
- NewThe site is published in Italian, English, French and Spanish.
- NewYou can create an account, sign in, and reset your password if you need to.
